PRADO NATIONAL MUSEUM: The Prado Museum is the spanish national art museum, located in Downtown of Madrid. Widely considered to have one of the world’s finest collections of european art, dating from the 12th century to the early 20th century, based on the former Spanish Royal Collection, and the single best collection of spanish art. Prado was founded as a museum of paintings and sculpture in 1819, it also contains important collections of other types of works. The numerous paintings by Francisco Goya, the single most extensively represented artist, as well as by Hieronymus Bosch, “El Greco”, Rubens, Titian, and Diego Velázquez are the highlights of the collection. Some of the greatest masterpieces are The Garden of Earthly Delights by Bosch, The Nobleman with his hand on his Chest by El Greco, Death of the Virgin by Mantegna, The Holy Family known as The Pearl by Raphael, The Foot Washing by Tintoretto, Las Meninas by Velázquez, The Three Graces by Rubens, and The Family of Carlos IV by Goya.

THYSSEN-BORNEMISZA NATIONAL MUSEUM: The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum is the 3rd largest museum in Madrid. Together with the Prado and the Reina Sofía – the two other major art museums in the capital – it forms part of “el Triángulo del Arte” or the “Golden Triangle of Art”. The Thyssen Museum includes a mix of Medieval art, 17th century art by Flemish/Dutch masters, and works by Dalí – an unique addition to the classical art in the Prado museum and the modern art in the Reina Sofia museum.

OPENING HOURS: Permanent collection Monday from 12:00 a.m. h. to 4:00 p.m. free entrance. Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. Other exhibitions check the schedule in the museum.

REINA SOFÍA NATIONAL MUSEUM: The collection of Reina Sofía Museum comprises more than 21,000 works. The museum is a crossroads of spaces, objects and times: a place where narratives are woven together and stories told, rendering every intersection meaningful as it leads off in one direction or another, turning it into an intense experience of discovery and knowledge. This is why everything that is exhibited, in all its strangeness, all its questions, has to actually touch the visitor’s everyday reality, bringing about a genuine learning experience.
